Revell / Italeri
F4U-5 Corsair

05.07.2001

I build the Cockpit out of the box, just painted and drybrushed it with a light grey.
This took me about 1.5 hours.

Cockpit der F4U-5 Cockpit der F4U-5

As the Kit based on the "wrong" Italeri Night Figter, the glare shields of the exausts are wrong on an F4U-4B or an F4U-5.
So I removed them and engraved the panel line new.

The glare protection

You can see the changes in the picture.

Painting the engine.
The kit engine is verry rare on details, so you should use an aftermarked one"

Black painted and drybrushed with silver The result The gear cover painted grey 2. Step 3. Step

The Oilcoolers glued and painted back.
The pitot tube was removed to ease the sanding of the leading edge.
The Cockpit and Engine mount where glued into the fuselage.

Today I worked on the "feet" of the Modell.
I could not hold back, I had to make a hydaulic wire

The landing gear The stretched sprue for the hydraulic wirre Fitting the L/G

The result of the Drybrushing.

13.07.2001

Today I added only some weathering.

Beginning with the port side, I airbrushed the exhaust staining.

14.07.2001

I used brass rod to mount the propeller for a smooth running.

Ironicaly a drop of superglue runn into the rod and jammed it (the pic in the middle).
As I spined the propeller the Modell overturns and disapear from the workbensh and made an almost perfect tre pint touchdown on the floor.
Luckily only minor damage was the result.
Equiped with a new steel Pitot tube and reglued Landing gear the modell was repaired in a vew minutes.

You can see the new Pitot tube top left.

Some "Impressions" of the Modell

As we coukld not get the Future Stuff here in Germany, I used "Erdal Glänzer".
This is used in the same way as Future, and it worked well.
Here is the bottle, so you could see for what you have looking for.
