About me !

Don Color, ready for take off

Me in a C-130 Cockpit at Rhein Main Airbase

Itīs always hard for me to write something about myself, but I will try it, so that you can read something about the guy who has made that all over here.

How everything started

First time I see the light was in the Year 1966 in a Town called Frankfurt am Main in Germany.
My parents decided it could be an good idea to name me Jens Popp ( I doesnīt commend this, I live with that).

I couldnīt remeber when, on my Odysee trough live, it began that I started modelling, but what I can remember is that it must be the Revell "Jolly Roger" from Peter Pan and that I played some Years with it in the bath tub.

Over the years I destroyed some Modells by building them and my Family had no problems in finding the right gift for me for Chrismas, etc.
And so I collected almost over 2000 models (yes, mostly unbuild....you know that well... doesn`t wonder me) over the years.

The Model Club

In 1986 I visited for the first time a Model Exhibition on the Rhein Main Airport, wehere I met the Guyīs from the PMV Frankfurt Model Club.
Imediatly infected by the "Virus-Plastikus" I joined the Club the same Year and the decent into the "Model Hell" began.
The following Year I displayed my own Models for the first time and met the great peoples from the "Modellers Fammily".
Shortly after that I become Secretary of the Club and worked till December 1999 when I retired as a Club Official.

The Colors

Don Color at work

Don Color with his habbit.

After many Years of brushing, I started with an airbrush and changed to acrylic paints.
The problem then was that not every Color (especialy RLM Paints) was available and you had to mix them ore to use enamels.
After I almost ruined one Modell at the washing with enamel paints, I decided that something must happen.
I looked for useabal Pigments and started to prduce my own Paints.
This was the birth of JPS Modell.
Starting with only 10 Colors, the sortiment growed to over 200 diffrent Colors and still growing.
Now I spend more time in color research as building models, but it makes fun and that counts.

You are so ugly!!!!

This is, how the Paint see Don Color!

DON COLOR

I recieved my nickname "DON COLOR" (the Color Propst) from my Model-Buddy Dirk Heyer (DON BAPP, yes I got my revenge).
How he came to this name, I do not know (maybe he inhalatet to much fumes from plastic glue), but the best is to ask himself if you met him someday.
You know how it works with those nicknames, and so I found that it would be great for the Name of this Page.

The Homepage

After I recognized that there where a lot of peoples out there wo where looking for color samples on the web (me included) and there where nothing, I decidet to create this page.
What become out of it...., well I believe you can see it on the pages.

So, I believe thatīs all for now.
I hope you enjoyed the smal Voyage trough my live and my decent to the "Plastic Hell".
Last, but not least, I want to thank all of you out there who visited me and hope that you enjoy watching my litle home on the Web and found that Information you where locking for.

Happy colloring !
